The popular group began as a gospel
quartet in October 2000 with members Terry McCort, Brad Wilson, Tony
Huntsman, and originally Mark Hatfield singing lead. In July 2001
Hatfield moved to Ashland, Ohio, and Wes Wilson, Brad's son, was
unquestioningly accepted as the standout lead for O-A-C. Over the
next five years, the group showed wonderful versatility by adding
patriotic, barbershop, oldies and doo wop to the repertoire. In
December 2005, Wes made a career move to Lancaster, Ohio, and Tyler
McCort, Terry's son, was selected as lead.
One-A-Chord's very first recording
venture into the field of oldies & doo wop was a true success.
Their Shades of the Past CD was selected
by CASA (Contemporary A cappella Society of America) as the
Best A cappella Doo Wop Album of 2005.
The religious roots of the quartet
are deep in the Church of Christ where A cappella singing (in chapel
style without instrumental accompaniment) is the standard. In
October 2003 a well-received gospel CD of 10 a cappella songs was
released entitled One Lord, One Faith.
Their spontaneous humor and audience
interaction makes each performance delightfully unique. |
